NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene track & field enjoyed their second home meet of the season on Friday and Saturday as they hosted the NNU Open on Bohner Track.
The Nighthawks saw another program record fall, while multiple others hit top ten marks and personal records.
Destany Herbert broke another record, but this time it was not her usual shot put as she took down the top mark in program history in the hammer on Friday night with a throw of 52.77 meters. She followed that up on Saturday by entering the NNU top ten in the discus, ranking 10
th with her toss of 42.06 meters.
Keelin Stewart also made a splash on the women's side in the 3000m Steeplechase, running a time of 11:46.86 that is seventh in program history.
Gerohm Rihari had a great day in the jumps, clearing 2.10 meters in the high jump for the third-best mark in NNU history and the 12
th-best in Division II this season. He also leaped 7.29 meters in the long jump, which would have broken the program record had it not been aided by wind.
Carter Alberts registered another NNU top ten mark, this time in the discus with a toss of 43.68 meters that is ninth in program history.
Micah Chi notched the 10
th-best time in program history in the men's 3000m Steeplechase, running a 9:56.50.
Other PRs on the women's side at the home meet were hit by
Alyssa Blum in the 800m,
Georgia Collins in the high jump,
Maddie Weatherford in the 100m hurdles, and
Shayna Williams in the long jump.
For the men, other PRs were achieved by
Bryor Adams in the discus,
Thomas Clark in the 100m and 200m,
Aaron Heberlein in the 5000m,
Nolan Meek in the javelin,
Emmett Stouffer in the 800m, and
Zach Tatro in the 800m.
The Nighthawks will next head to Ellensburg for the CWU Wildcat Invitational, taking place next weekend from April 18-19.
