RENO, Nevada – Northwest Nazarene track & field competed in their final indoor meet before the GNAC Championships across Friday and Saturday, traveling down to Reno for the Wolf Pack Classic.
The Nighthawks had a great weekend, racking up 12 new NNU Top Ten marks and 30 total personal records.
Alejandra Gomez registered three of the top ten marks by herself, hitting PRs in the 60m hurdles, 200, and 400. Her time of 57.57 in the 400 is second all-time at NNU, her mark of 9.08 in the 60m hurdles is third, and her time of 25.79 in the 200 is ninth in the record books.
Also on the women's side,
Emma Kwok notched a top ten mark in the weight throw with a toss of 15.17 meters, which is ninth in program history in the event.
On the men's side of the throws,
Carter Alberts had a great weekend with two top-ten marks. His heave of 14.78 meters in the shot put is seventh in program history and his mark of 16.16 meters in the weight throw is eighth.
The men's 800 saw three new top-ten marks by Nighthawks, with
Brody Kemble running a 1:55.20 (fourth),
Grady Mylander right behind at 1:55.31 (fifth), and
Ian Stockett recording a 1:56.25 (eighth).
Mylander also entered the record books in the mile, running a 4:16.14, which is fourth in program history.
Carter Stedman also hit a top ten in the event, registering a time of 4:16.68, which is sixth all-time at NNU.
Anderson Kron hit the final top ten mark on the weekend, running a 50.31 in the 400 (10
th in program history).
The Nighthawks will now take their talents to the GNAC Indoor Championships, set for Feb. 17-18 at The Podium in Spokane.
