Nighthawks Face Tough Offensive Night Against Seawolves

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball continued their games in Alaska on Saturday as they went head to head with Alaska Anchorage. In a difficult battle the NNU team was unable to stop the strong Seawolves team, falling 86-47.

This will bring them to 7-4 in GNAC play and 13-7 overall.

At the end of the first half, Northwest Nazarene found themselves trailing Alaska Anchorage, struggling to maintain offensive rhythm against the Seawolves' defensive pressure. The Nighthawks had a tough start, managing only 16 points through two quarters while committing a couple stifling turnovers.

Despite the struggles, NNU had some bright spots. Shawnacee Davis contributed five points, including a strong driving layup, and the team recorded 7 for 11 from the free throw line.

Defensively, the Nighthawks forced key turnovers, with Kate Clark grabbing a steal, and Loy Waid making a big defensive rebound.

However, Alaska Anchorage capitalized on their chances, with Ashlyn Rean leading the way with nine points, four steals, and three rebounds. With Alaska Anchorage controlling the tempo and leading by double digits, NNU struggled to find an answer before the halftime buzzer.

The third quarter saw NNU's offense trying to push back, with Kate Clark knocking down free throws and a pull-up jumper to contribute to the scoreboard. Chloe Deharo also added points from the line, and Sadi Clemons found success inside with a layup.

In the final quarter, Northwest Nazarene continued to fight, but Alaska Anchorage maintained control with a final score of 86-47.

Shawnaccee Davis led the Nighthawks with 11 points. Sadi Clemons and Chloe Deharo both contributed 6 points and Kendall Clark had 5 rebounds.

The Nighthawks will be back in their home gym for their next game against Simon Fraser. The game is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 6th at 5:15 pm in the Johnson Sports Center.
