Nighthawks Fall to Red Leafs in Canada

BURNABY, B.C. – Northwest Nazarene men's soccer suffered a tough road defeat on Saturday, falling to Simon Fraser 2-1.

The Nighthawks move to 5-5-4 overall and 2-3-2 in GNAC play.

NNU had the advantage in the box score on everything but goals, outshooting SFU 12-9 (5-4 on goal) and earning eight corners to just three for the Red Leafs.

Simon Fraser capitalized on their opportunities twice, however, as Michael Hennessy scored in the fifth minute and the 79th minute for a brace.

The Nighthawks broke through with Rylan McPherson's ninth goal of the season in the 85th minute, but the game would end with the 2-1 score.

NNU will be back home for four games over the next two weeks to close the regular season, starting with Saint Martin's on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 4:00 p.m.
