Nighthawks Finish the Weekend With Another Win

BURNABY, B.C. – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball picked up another win on Saturday, flying past Simon Fraser 81-55 in the West Gym.

With the win, the Nighthawks improved to 3-2 in GNAC play and 9-5 overall.

As the game started the NNU squad took no time at all in beginning to build up their lead, scoring 10 straight and keeping the Red Leafs at 0. Simon Fraser worked to cut this deficit but ended behind the Nighthawks by 5, 17-12, at the end of the first quarter.

The Red Leafs continued to try and chip away at NNU's lead throughout the second quarter. The Nighthawks team were able to hold out and keep the advantage, but the Simon Fraser team did come within 2 with a little over 2 minutes of play time left. Danika Starr ended the quarter with a buzzer beater 3 pointer sending the Nighthawks into the locker room up, 37-30.

The NNU team stretched out their lead to a comfortable distance in the third. Shooting 9 for 17 from the floor and recording double the amount of rebounds of Simon Fraser they finished the quarter ahead by 16.

The Nighthawks had their highest scoring quarter of the game in the fourth, cruising to the 81-55 victory.

Kendall Clark had an outstanding outing, scoring 21 points and pulling down 14 rebounds.

The Nighthawks will return home next week to host Montana State Billings in the Johnson Sports Center. The tip off is scheduled for 5:15 pm on Thursday the 16th.
