NNU Splits Saturday at Saint Martin's

LACEY, Wash. – Northwest Nazarene softball split Saturday's doubleheader at Saint Martin's with a 2-0 win and a 3-0 defeat, taking the series three games to one over the Saints.

The Nighthawks move to 33-8 on the season and 16-4 in GNAC play.

Game One

Sidney Booth dominated the opener on Saturday, tossing a three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts.

NNU broke through for the first run of the game in the fourth inning when Clarissa Moreno led off with a double and came around to score on a one-out single from Abigail Gagnon.

The Nighthawks added one more with one swing in the top of the fifth as Jami Obringer launched her first collegiate home run to make it 2-0.

Those two runs were more than enough for Booth, who improved to 20-4 on the year with the victory.

Game Two

NNU's bats fell silent in the final game of the series, managing just three hits in the 3-0 defeat.

Saint Martin's tallied their runs in the first two innings to take an early lead. The Nighthawks had a great opportunity with the bases loaded and two outs in the fourth, but were unable to score and mount a comeback.

Gina Skinner went three innings in the start for NNU, allowing two earned runs on five hits with one strikeout. Mia Traylor tossed three innings as well, not allowing a run while giving up two hits and striking out two.

Next Up

NNU returns to Nampa for their final home games of the regular season next week, hosting Western Oregon for a four-game series on April 19-20.
