Softball Wins Two on Their Epilepsy Awareness Day

NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene softball won two games against Western Oregon on Friday, taking game one 4-0, and game two 3-1.
 
The Nighthawks are now 35-8 overall and 18-4 in the GNAC.
 
Game 1
 
NNU scored the first run of the weekend in the third inning. Emma Mulligan reached base with a walk and scored from first on an RBI double from Clarissa Moreno.
 
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Sidney Booth and Abigail Gagnon reached base and were pinch ran for by Olivia Bailey and Emalee Romero. Bailey and Romero scored on a single down the right field line by Emma Bumatay. Lynsey Chiala pinch ran for Bumatay and scored on a single from Jami Obringer for the final run of the game.
 
Sidney Booth picked up 11 strikeouts and allowed just one walk in her seven scoreless innings of work.
 
Game 2
 
The Wolves got the first run of the game in the top of the fifth inning. The Nighthawks answered in a big way with three runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Emma Mulligan hit an RBI single that scored Jami Obringer to tie the game at 1-1. Booth got her at bat with bases loaded and took advantage, scoring Ava Clark from third and Mulligan from second to give NNU a 3-1 lead.
 
Gina Skinner pitched six innings and allowed just the one run. She struck out three batters and earned her 12th win of the season. Sidney Booth pitched the final inning of the game to earn her second save of the year. This was Booth's second save of the year.

The Nighthawks continue their series with the Wolves tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
