Nighthawks Complete Sweep of Simon Fraser

NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene softball run ruled Simon Fraser 8-0 in game one and won game two by a score of 6-1 to open their GNAC schedule with a series sweep.
 
The Nighthawks are now 16-2 overall and 4-0 in the GNAC.
 
Game 1
 
NNU piled on all eight runs quickly in game one, with five runs coming in the first, two in the second, and one in the third inning. Sidney Booth hit her third home run of the season to score Emma Mulligan and give NNU a 2-0 lead. Keana Bell matched Booth with a two-run home run of her own, scoring Emma Bumatay. Mari Kamemoto scored the fifth run of the inning when Jami Obringer reached base on an error.
 
Mulligan scored again in the second inning when Clarissa Moreno hit an RBI single down the right field line. Moreno came around to score later that inning, giving NNU a 7-0 lead. Ava Clark scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the third inning when Mulligan hit a double to reach base for the third time.
 
Sidney Booth received her 12th win and is now 12-0 on the year. She threw 5.0 innings and struck out three batters while allowing just one hit. Booth, Mulligan, Bumatay, and Bell all had multi-hit games. Bumatay now leads the team in multi-hit games with eight, followed by Booth and Moreno with seven.
 
Game 2
 
Keana Bell provided NNU's first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning. She reached base with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch, Mari Kamemoto moved her to third before Bell scored on another wild pitch. In the bottom of the third inning Emma Mulligan scored on a single coming off the bat of Emma Bumatay to give the Nighthawks a 2-0 lead.
 
In the bottom of the fourth inning with bases loaded, Sidney Booth hit a single and was credited with two RBIs. An error by the right fielder allowed the runner from first base to score and Booth to reach third base.
 
Emilie Hernandez got a base hit in the bottom of the fifth and was pinch ran for Jami Obringer. Obringer stole second base and moved to third with a base hit from Emalee Romero. Obringer scored on a wild pitch to give NNU a 6-0 lead. The Red Leafs scored their lone run on the day in the top of the sixth inning, but the Nighthawks went on to win 6-1.
 
Gina Skinner pitched all seven innings for NNU. She allowed one unearned run and four hits while striking out three batters.

The Nighthawks next series is on the road against Western Washington on March 15th and 16th.
