ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball fell to the Central Washington Wildcats 81-69 on Saturday afternoon.
The Nighthawks are now 9-14 overall and 6-10 in the GNAC.
The Wildcats began the game jumping out to a 9-2 lead. The Nighthawks shot 40% from the field in the first quarter but were unable to make up the seven-point deficit before the quarter concluded at 23-16. NNU mixed a 9-2 run in the middle of the second quarter in which they shot 4-5 from the field, but trailed at half, 43-32.
The Nighthawks outscored the Wildcats 16-14 in the third quarter with the help of balanced scoring. Six different Nighthawks put points on the board in the third period. There were no significant runs in the fourth quarter. CWU hit 9-11 free-throws to seal the deal and take the game 81-69.
The women's record will improve to 10-14 overall and 7-10 in the GNAC the next time they play due to Western Oregon women's basketball forfeiting the remainder of their season. The regular season will conclude with senior night at home against Saint Martin's on Saturday, March 2
