PORTLAND, Ore. – The Great Northwest Athletic Conference received notice from Western Oregon University that it canceled the remainder of its women's basketball season last Friday.
Per GNAC policy, WOU will forfeit the remaining games on its schedule. WOU's opponents will be assigned forfeit wins and WOU will be assigned forfeit losses in the conference standings.
This includes Northwest Nazarene's home game against the Wolves that was scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 29 at 5:15 p.m. As a result, the NNU women will not be playing on the 29th, and will receive a forfeit win in the GNAC standings on that day.
Due to the forfeit, NNU now just has two games remaining in the regular season, visiting Central Washington this Saturday the 24th and then hosting Saint Martin's the following Saturday, March 2, at 5:15 p.m. for Senior Night.
NNU men's basketball is still scheduled to host the Western Oregon men on the 29th, with opening tip still scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Johnson Sports Center.
