ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball fell to Alaska Anchorage 70-59 on Thursday night.
The Nighthawks are now 8-13 overall and 5-9 in the GNAC.
NNU's first couple points of the game came off two made three-pointers from
Emma Clark.
Kendall Clark and
Madeline Gebers each added a couple of buckets and the Nighthawks trailed 11-10 at the end of the first quarter. With back-to-back layups early in the second quarter,
Kendall Clark helped regain the lead for NNU. The Seawolves responded by going on an 11-2 run. At the end of the first half, the Nighthawks trailed 26-20.
Each team scored 19-points in the third quarter.
Beaux Bruegman contributed to effort with seven points. The Seawolves reached five fouls at the 5:31 mark in the quarter and the Nighthawks capitalized on that by shooting 11-12 from the free-throw line in the third period.
The Seawolves opened the fourth quarter with a 9-2 run to go up 54-41. The Nighthawks went on a 9-2 of their own to make the score 56-50. UAA maintained their lead to the finish of the game and defeated the Nighthawks 70-59.
Kendall Clark led NNU in points and rebounds with 19 and nine, respectively.
Kate Clark led in assists with five.
The women's next game is on the road Saturday, February 17
th against the Nanooks of Alaska Fairbanks.
