NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball fell to Simon Fraser 83-64 on Saturday night.
The Nighthawks are now 8-12 overall and 5-8 in the GNAC.
Kate Clark opened the scoring for the Nighthawks with a couple of three-point buckets. After a three-pointer from
Emma Clark, the Red Leafs went on a 15-1 run to take a 20-10 lead. NNU answered with a 9-2 run, but at the end of the first quarter SFU held a 27-21 advantage.
The next significant run came from the Simon Fraser in the second quarter when they went on an 11-0 run.
Kate Clark made her third three of the game just before halftime and the Nighthawks trailed 43-32.
The Nighthawks shot 9-31 in the second half and were not able to make up the ground necessary to regain a lead. On a positive note, NNU made 14 of their 18 free-throws in the fourth quarter as opposed to the 5-11 shot by SFU.
Kate Clark led the Nighthawks in points with 16, adding one field goal in the second half and making five free-throws in her six opportunities. Emma and
Kendall Clark each led the team in rebounds with seven.
The women are on the road for two weeks before returning to Nampa for their final two games of the GNAC schedule. Their next game is against Alaska Anchorage on Thursday, February 15
th.
