Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Nighthawks Take Victory Against MSU Denver

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – NNU Women's Basketball made the trip to Utah this weekend to play in their last tournament before the new year. In a tough battle against the MSU Denver Roadrunners, the Nighthawks edged their way to a victory, 78-72. This puts them at 6-4 for the season.

As the first quarter got underway the Nighthawks took the court ready to compete, outscoring the Roadrunners, 25-20. The NNU squad went 10 for 16 from the field compared to the 7 for 13 that the Roadrunners put in. With a five-point lead, the Nighthawks continued to build on their momentum. Kate Clark found her footing in this quarter and finished off the half with two crucial three-pointers. As the Nighthawks hit the locker room they were up 47-39.

Both teams struggled to find their range in the second half of the game. However, the lead secured by the Nighthawks in the first half was enough to help them pull off the victory. In the final quarter, MSU Denver was able to outscore the Nighthawks 17-13, but it was too little, too late as NNU took the six-point win with a score of 78-72.

Kate Clark led the Nighthawks with 15 points, going 5 for 10 from the floor and 3 for 7 from the three-point line. Shawnacee Davis also contributed 13 points and 4 assists.

The Nighthawks will have their second game of the Westminster Tournament tomorrow afternoon, December 21st, at 3:00 pm. They will compete against the host team, the Westminster Griffins.
