CALDWELL, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene men's basketball struggled to find their shooting touch in round two of the United Heritage Mayors' Cup on Tuesday at College of Idaho, falling to the Yotes 76-44.
The game was an exhibition for the Nighthawks, so it does not count towards their overall record, which remains at 4-1 on the season.
The Yotes evened the season series at 1-1, earning tonight's victory after the Nighthawks claimed a 69-66 overtime win back on Nov. 12 in Nampa.
NNU started cold from the floor, only managing two points off a pair of free throws over the first seven and a half minutes as College of Idaho took a 10-2 lead.
The Yotes would lead by as much as 15 in the first half, but NNU was able to cut it to 11 heading into the break at 35-24.
The shooting woes continued in the second half, though, and the Yotes continued to put the pressure on to eventually come away with the 76-44 win.
Biggie Bergersen led the Nighthawks with 11 points, followed by
Kye Dickson with nine.
Zane Foster registered six boards and three blocks, while
Yaru Harvey recorded three steals.
NNU takes the rest of the week off before hosting two more games in the Johnson Sports Center next weekend, opening GNAC play with Western Washington on Thursday, Dec. 5 and Simon Fraser on Saturday, Dec. 7.
