Nighthawks End The Season With a Sweep

NAMPA, Idaho. – NNU Volleyball competed in their final game of the season against Saint Martin's University this afternoon. Ending the season strong, the Nighthawks swept, defeating the Saints 3-0.

The Nighthawks started the afternoon off by honoring their three seniors. Maren Machado, Gabi Moore, and Miya Koch have been pivotal members of the Nighthawks team and will be missed. 


In the first set NNU came out strong, building up an early 9 point lead. However, the Saints worked hard and were able to tie the game up as the teams hit the 20 point mark. The Nighthawks took the win with back to back kills by Abby Black and Miya Koch. NNU recorded 20 kills to SMU's 14 and finished the game with a score of 26-24. 


As the second set got underway the Nighthawks looked just as strong. With a similar performance, they built an early lead and the Saint's had to work their way back. However, the Nighthawks were able to keep their edge and get the win, 25-20. NNU had 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .233. 


In the final set of the match the Nighthawks finished off the evening strong taking the win 25-16. NNU put down 13 kills, a hitting percentage of .212, and 4 service aces. 


Maren Machado led her team with 14 kills assisted by setter Morgan Wilding who had 22 assists. Kayci Spray recorded 18 digs.    


The Nighthawks finished off their season with a 6-12 record in conference play and a 9-17 record overall.
