Nighthawks Shut Out Lumberjacks on The Road

ARCATA, Calif. – NNU Women's Basketball traveled to California to compete in their last game of the GNAC-PacWest Crossover. In a closely matched game the Nighthawks won with a score of 77-60.     

As the first quarter got underway it was clear that it would be an afternoon filled with good basketball. The Lumberjacks were able to get a small edge shooting 9 for 16 from the floor compared to the 8 for 20 put up by the Nighthawks. As the first came to a close the Lumberjacks were up 21-18. However, NNU was able to quickly turn it around and out score CPH 19 to 16 in the second. The Nighthawks made 7 from the field goal position recording a percentage of 53.8. Going into halftime the score was all tied up, 37-37. Kendall Clark led her team in the first half with 10 points followed by Madeline Gebers who put up 8. 


In the third quarter of the game the Nighthawks continued to match up well against CPH. NNU went 10 for 15 from the field goal position being countered by CPH who went 5 for 6 from the three point line. The Nighthawks were able to keep their lead and finish the quarter up by 3. The Nighthawks pulled away with it in the fourth quarter shutting the Lumberjacks down defensively. NNU kept CPH scoreless, except for 4 free throws, for the entire quarter. The Nighthawks recorded 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 steals. The game ended with the Nighthawks on top, with a score of 77-60. 


Kendall Clark had a stand out performance recording 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. Madeline Gebers also contributed 13 points with Kate Clark right behind her with 10. 


The Nighthawks will continue their appearance on the road as they compete in the SFU Thanksgiving Tournament. NNU's first game is scheduled for the 29th at 1:30 p.m. pacific time. They will be going head to head against Point Loma University.
