BILLINGS, Mont. – Northwest Nazarene men's soccer earned a 2-2 draw in a back-and-forth contest at Montana State Billings on Saturday afternoon.
The Nighthawks move to 3-3-3 in GNAC play and 4-7-4 overall.
NNU grabbed a 1-0 advantage in the first half, thanks to a goal in the 30
th minute.
Jonathan Cardona found space down the left side and sent a dangerous ball across goal, where
Jim Wagenaar poked it into the back of the net for his third goal of the season.
The Yellowjackets answered with a pair of goals, including a PK, in a span of just two minutes right after the break.
Ten minutes later, though, the Nighthawks found the equalizer.
Caleb Putney brought the ball down the center of the pitch and dished to
Adam Laarj on the right side of the box, who one-timed a pass back to
Raoul Barragan for a beautiful strike from 20 yards out.
Both teams had plenty of shots over the final half hour of action, but the score remained tied 2-2 until the final horn.
MSUB took 20 shots to NNU's 11, but the shots on target discrepancy was much smaller at 6-4.
The Nighthawks remain on the road for their next contest, visiting Saint Martin's on Thursday, Nov. 7 for a 1:00 p.m. Pacific kickoff.
