Nighthawks Face Tough Match Up Against Westmont

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The NNU Women's Basketball team headed down to California this weekend to compete against Westmont University. In a tough match up the Nighthawks were unable to overcome the strong Warriors' team and lost 68-85.

With a similar performance as the game NNU had on Tuesday against Oregon State the Nighthawks came out very strong in the first half. In the first quarter the Nighthawks recorded 13 points and 5 rebounds. However, the Warriors were able to put up an impressive 52.9 percent from the floor leading the quarter, 22-13. Coming out in the second quarter Westmont continued to build up their lead shooting 5 for 10 from the floor and 3 for 5 from the three point line. The NIghthawks attempted to battle back into the game recording 12 rebounds to Westmonts 9. Despite there efforts the Nighthawks went into the half down by 16.


As the second half got underway the Nighthawks attempted to turn it around in their favor. Out scoring the Warriors, 21 to 19, the Nighthawks chipped away at the Warriors lead. As the quarter finished up the score sat at 64-50 in favor of Westmont. In the final quarter of the game Westmont was able to take back the momentum from the Nighthawks and finish out the game strong. The final score of the game was 85-68 with the Warriors on top. 


Kendall Clark led her team with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Chloe Deharo followed closely behind, contributing 14 points.  


The Nighthawks will be back on the court tomorrow in Santa Barbara as they face off against Vanguard. Tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. pacific time in the Murchison Gym.
