NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene men's soccer suffered a tough defeat to Seattle Pacific on Thursday night, falling 1-0 in a tightly contested match.
The Nighthawks fall to 5-8-4 on the year and 4-4-3 in GNAC play.
The two teams managed just five shots on target between them in the opening half, with SPU at three and NNU two. The first 30 minutes of the second half was much of the same with the defenses holding the upper hand.
SPU broke through in the 74
th minute, however, as Raymundo Mendez knocked in a rebound off his own shot to five the Falcons the lead.
The Nighthawks managed a few shots over the final 15 minutes, but none found the back of the net as SPU took the win.
NNU will wrap up their regular season on Saturday when they host Western Oregon at 1:00 p.m. on NNU Soccer Field. The Nighthawks will also be honoring their seniors prior to the match.
