NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene men's soccer battled Montana State Billings to a scoreless draw on Thursday afternoon.
NNU moves to 2-1-1 in GNAC play and 3-5-2 overall on the season.
Both teams had a few good chances to put the ball in the back of the net, but neither were able to break through for a goal.
One of NNU's better chances came in the 70
th minute, when
Jim Wagenaar tracked down a pass near the top of the box and had a clear look at goal with just the keeper in the way, but the ball took an unusual bounce off the turf just before it was struck and ended up sailing over the crossbar.
Wagenaar had two of NNU's six shots, also earning the Nighthawks' only shot on target in the match.
Gerardo Fonte stood tall in goal, earning the shutout with six saves.
NNU will be back home this Saturday, hosting Simon Fraser at 2:00 p.m. in a rematch from just one week ago when the Red Leafs won 2-0 in Burnaby.
