NNU Overpowered by MSUB

NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball fell to MSU Billings, 81-52, on Saturday night.

The Nighthawks are now 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the GNAC.

In the first quarter the Nighthawks shot 2-7 from the field but made six of seven free-throws to reach 10 points. Turnovers hurt NNU early, as they turned the ball over seven times to the Yellowjackets' two. MSUB led 19-10 at the end of quarter one.

The Nighthawks were able to get within six points of the Yellowjackets just before the five-minute mark in the second quarter. MSUB responded by going on a 25-4 run that lasted until the 6:25 mark in the third quarter when Cami Knishka hit a three-point shot.

MSUB led 64-36 to begin the final quarter. NNU did not roll over but was unable to overcome the deficit, resulting in the 81-52 finish.

Kendall Clark and Madeline Gebers each had 12 points for the Nighthawks and Knishka was just behind them with 11 points.

The women's next game is up north against the Simon Fraser Red Leafs. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, January 11th.
