NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball defeated the Central Washington Wildcats at home on Saturday afternoon, 74-68.
The Nighthawks are now 8-8 overall and 5-4 in the GNAC.
NNU started off the game hot with an 11-0 run and tremendous defense that included two steals and a block. The Nighthawks finished the first quarter with an 18-9 lead. The Wildcats opened the second quarter with two three-pointers and a jumper to come within one point at 18-17. NNU answered with a 9-0 run to regain a more comfortable lead. At the end of the half, the Nighthawks led 31-22.
Central Washington came within five points of the Nighthawks at the start of the third quarter. NNU responded by gaining their largest lead of the afternoon at 13 points. The Nighthawks and Wildcats continued with back-and-forth scoring that resulted in NNU taking the 74-68 victory.
As a team the Nighthawks shot 44.8% from the field to the Wildcats 37.9%.
Kendall Clark led the team in points with 22, nearly matching her high of 23.
Emma Clark led the team in rebounds with nine.
