Elle McCord Set to Take on NCAA West Regional

| By:
DALLAS - For the first time in program history, Northwest Nazarene women's golf will have a competitor in the NCAA postseason as Elle McCord will be playing in the NCAA Super Regional.

Last Monday, McCord was announced as one of six individual qualifiers that will compete, along with the 12 qualifying teams, at the Golf Club of Dallas from May 8-9.

The top four teams and then top two individuals not part of an advancing team will advance to the NCAA National Championships on May 16-20 in Eureka, Missouri at Fox Run Golf Club. McCord will look to be one of those two individual qualifiers to the final championships.

Pairings for the first round on Monday have been announced, and McCord will be starting on hole 10 at 9:50 a.m. Central with fellow individual qualifiers Yuliana Yapur of Texas A&M International and Morgan Sjoerdsma of Cal State Los Angeles. Pairings and start times for the two subsequent rounds will be set after the previous round is complete.

McCord earned her regional spot after a stellar freshman campaign, leading the GNAC with a scoring average of 76.4 strokes per round. In 11 events, the Star, Idaho native finished in the Top 10 seven times, including four top-five finishes and one individual win. She also had the lowest score for the Nighthawks in all but one event this season, including two rounds of par or under.

Other than GNAC Champion and automatic qualifier Simon Fraser sending their five-person team, McCord will be the only other GNAC athlete at the event.
