Three Nighthawks Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors for Track & Field

| By:
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) has released the 2022-23 Track & Field Academic All-District Teams for Division II, with Northwest Nazarene's Laine DeJong, Abbey Wood, and Kinsey Yenor earning honors.

This is the first Academic All-District selection for all three Nighthawks. They are also just the third, fourth, and fifth different NNU women's track & field athletes to earn the accolade in the program's DII history.

All three are above a 3.90 cumulative GPA for their collegiate careers, with Wood holding a 3.96 in Nursing, DeJong a 3.94 in Nursing, and Yenor a 3.94 in Marketing.

The trio were also very successful athletically this season as they each earned All-GNAC honors for track & field. Yenor led the way, earning a pair of GNAC titles in the indoor and outdoor pole vault while also qualifying for the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships.

Wood grabbed three podium finishes at the GNAC Outdoor meet, with a second-place finish in the 200m, third-place in the 100m, and as a part of the third-place NNU squad in the 4x100m relay. DeJong was the GNAC Outdoor Runner-Up in the 400m dash.

All three were also named to the GNAC All-Academic Team this year.

The 2023 Academic All‐District Track & Field Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must be significant contributors to their team athletically while maintaining a cumulative GPA of a 3.50 or above. The CSC Academic All‐America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All‐District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All‐America ballot. First, second, and third‐team Academic All‐America honorees will be announced June 28.
