IRVINE, Calif. – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball fell 74-55 to Point Loma Nazarene in their first game of the CUI Thanksgiving Tournament.
The Sea Lions controlled the whole game. They scored first with back-to-back three-point shots in the first quarter and held the lead for the rest of the game. NNU had a tough first quarter, making three of 13 field goals. The Nighthawks picked it up in the second quarter. They outscored the Sea Lions 12-10 with the help of an 8-0 run. Point Loma held a 25-19 lead going into halftime.
The second half was much higher scoring. Point Loma edged the third quarter 24-21 and the fourth quarter 25-15. The Nighthawks shot 15-26 from the field and 4-8 from three in the second half.
Shawnacee Davis was the Nighthawks leading scorer with 13 points, making six of eight shots, one of which was a three-ball.
Beaux Bruegman led the team in rebounds with four.
The women's next game of the CUI Thanksgiving Tournament is tomorrow against Concordia University Irvine.
