Nighthawks Wrap Up Season at Simon Fraser

BURNABY, B.C. – Northwest Nazarene volleyball wrapped up their 2023 season on Saturday with a four-set defeat at the hands of Simon Fraser.

NNU finishes the campaign at 11-15 overall and 7-11 in GNAC action.

The Nighthawks fell behind 10-5 in the first set but quickly rallied to tie it at 10 on a Maren Dent kill. Neither team would lead by more than three for the rest of the frame, but it was Simon Fraser with the first set point at 24-23. NNU responded with three straight kills from Hailey Cheney, Dent, and Londyn Giles to take the set 26-24.

Set two was close for the majority of the action, but the Red Leafs would pull away late and win 25-20. That momentum carried over into a pair of 25-16 victories for SFU in sets three and four as the home team took the match in four frames.

Caroline McMahon concluded her remarkable NNU career with a 22-dig effort, moving into seventh all-time in GNAC history with 1,976 digs in her career.

Four other Nighthawks were in double digit digs, with Dent at 16, Giles at 14, Gabi Moore at 13, and Miya Koch at 11.

Giles led the team with 14 kills, followed by Koch at 12.
