NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball defeated the Whitworth Pirates 83-58 during their game on Saturday.
The Nighthawks controlled the first half, leading by as much as 14 points in the second quarter. NNU shot 47% from the field, and 40% from beyond the arc. The Nighthawks held a 43-30 lead at halftime.
NNU began the second half with an 8-0 run to take a 21-point lead. The Nighthawks managed to keep the Pirates from scoring any points in the first five minutes of the second half. NNU carried their dominance into the fourth quarter, leading by as much as 30 and winning with a final score of 83-58.
A pair of freshman led the Nighthawks offensively with
Kendall Clark and
Beaux Bruegman each scoring 18 points. Both were very efficient, with Bruegman making eight of 10 shots, including 2-2 from deep, and Clark going 6-10 from the field and 6-7 from the free throw line.
Cami Knishka added 12 points and four assists in her first game of the season, while
Emma Clark recorded a near triple-double with 10 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
The women's next game is against Point Loma Nazarene in Irvine, California. This game will take place on November 24
th during the CUI Thanksgiving Tournament.
