NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball took down Cal Poly Humboldt 83-71, to earn their first win of the season on Monday night.
After Cal Poly Humboldt opened the game with a couple of three-pointers, Northwest Nazarene went on a 13-1 run to claim their first lead of the game. NNU's run featured three consecutive makes from beyond the arc. Seven of the points in the run came from
Kendall Clark, and the other six came from
Madeline Gebers.
CPH went on a 10-point run early in the second quarter to gain their second lead of the game, but the Nighthawks would reclaim the lead with the help of five three-point makes.
The Nighthawks led by as much as 20 points in the fourth quarter. Cal Poly Humboldt put up a good fight with their final run of 11 points. NNU shut the door with good defense and great shooting from the free throw line.
As a team, NNU made 21 of 22 free throws. Once again,
Madeline Gebers led the team in scoring, this time with 21 points. All three Clark sisters scored double digit points.
Kendall Clark had the most points of her young career with 19.
Emma Clark also had a career high of 15 points while grabbing nine boards, and
Kate Clark had 10 points.
