SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball fell 125-38 in an exhibition game against the University of Utah to open the season.
The Utes opened the game with a 17-0 run, and they never looked back. The Nighthawks' starters were held scoreless in the first quarter, but NNU had eight points off the bench to finish the first quarter 34-8.
The Nighthawks scored another eight points in the second quarter, shooting 4-15. In the final 3:15 of the half, Utah went on an 18-point run to secure a 57-point lead. NNU shot 6-28 in the first half.
NNU began the second half with a 7-0 run of their own thanks to four points from
Kendall Clark and a three ball from
Emma Clark. After those seven points, Utah went on a 22-2 run. The Nighthawks shot 33% in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, NNU shot 33% again and finished the game shooting 16-58 and 5-5 on free-throws.
Loy Waid led the team in points with nine.
Kate Clark led the team in rebounds with five, three of which were offensive rebounds that came in the first quarter.
The Nighthawks next game is Friday, November 3
rd when they face off against College of Idaho at home in another exhibition matchup.
