Yellowjackets Edge Past Nighthawks

NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball dropped a home match up to Montana State Billings on Thursday night. The Yellowjackets finished with a score of 63, and the Nighthawks a score of 53.
 
The Nighthawks are now 8-10 overall and 4-6 in GNAC play.
 
How it Happened
 
The Nighthawks opened the game with a 6-0 run with points coming from Jordan Pinson, Clare Eubanks, and Loy Waid. NNU held a 14-9 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, but MSUB went on a 7-0 run to take the lead in the final minute and thirty seconds of the quarter.
 
Neither team was able to create much of a run in the second quarter. After a little back-and-forth scoring, the Yellowjackets led 29-23 at the half.
 
The Nighthawks notched the third quarter 16-15 thanks to 50% shooting from the field and deep balls coming from Emma Clark and Jordan Pinson. Emma Clark had seven points in the 3rd quarter.
 
MSUB held just a 54-50 lead with four minutes remaining in the game. In those final four minutes, the Yellowjackets outscored the Nighthawks 9-3. All MSUB's final nine points came off free-throws, and the final three points for NNU came from a deep ball by Kate Clark.
 
Nighthawks Notes
  • Clare Eubanks led the team in points and rebounds with a double-double. She had 14 points and 12 rebounds. She also shot 100% from the free-throw line.
  • NNU had nine fastbreak points to MSUB's 0
  • The Nighthawks had 22 points in the paint to the Yellowjackets' 18
