Knishka Delivers Overtime Dagger

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball defeated the Nanooks, 90-88, in overtime on Thursday night.
 
The Nighthawks are now 8-7 overall and 4-3 in GNAC play.
 
How it Happened
 
The Nighthawks came out of the gates swinging with a strong first quarter. NNU opened the game with a 7-0 lead that was part of a 15-4 run. Seven different Nighthawks took part in the first quarter scoring to give themselves a 21-9 lead.
 
The Nanooks answered back in the second quarter by shooting 10 for 14 from the field. NNU led at halftime by a score of 39-35.
 
In the second half, NNU shot 6 for 11 from beyond the arc. With under a minute remaining in regulation the Nighthawks trailed 77-74 and Cami Knishka made a clutch three point shot to tie the game up. After one made free throw from each squad, the game went into overtime at 78-78.
 
In overtime, the score was knotted at 88-88. NNU took a timeout to draw up one final play. With just seconds remaining, it was Knishka again with a clutch shot. This time it was for the lead and the 90-88 victory.
 
Nighthawks Notes
  • Clare Eubanks led the team with 16 points, followed by Knishka with 14.
  • Jordan Pinson led all players in assists with nine and tied her career high
  • Kate Clark had a career high with three three-pointers made
