NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball could not carry over the momentum from Thursday's big win, falling at home to Simon Fraser 96-86 on Saturday.
How It Happened
Simon Fraser broke out for 27 points in the first quarter, shooting nearly 60% from the field to go up 27-21. The Nighthawks did not fare much better in the second quarter, as SFU extended their lead by seven to 51-38.
SFU would pull out to their largest lead of the game of 18, 57-39, with 5:44 to go in the third period. The Nighthawks started to slowly chip away, though, cutting the deficit to 14 heading into the final 10 minutes.
The SFU lead dwindled into single digits at the 7:12 mark of the fourth when
Kate Clark drained a triple, and the Nighthawks cut it all the way down to five, 81-76, on a
Jordan Pinson three with 3:41 to play.
That was as close as NNU would come, however, as SFU protected the ball and made free throws down the stretch to come away with the 10-point win.
