BILLINGS, Mont. – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball took down MSUB by a score of 80-79 on Saturday night.
The Nighthawks are now 7-5 overall and 3-1 in GNAC play.
How it Happened
MSUB controlled the lead for most of the first half. They jumped out to an 11-point lead in the 2
nd quarter. The Nighthawks responded by going on a 16-4 run that gave them their first lead of the game at 40-39 just before halftime. MSUB tied the game up with a free-throw before the break.
MSUB gained another lead in the third quarter with a 58-49 edge over the Nighthawks. NNU was resilient and responded again, this time with a 12-0 run to gain a three-point lead at 61-58. MSUB made two free-throws to conclude the 3
rd quarter with a score of 61-60.
A beautiful back and forth battle between the two teams ensued in the 4
th quarter that included 12 lead changes. In the end, it was
Jordan Pinson with a reverse layup to give the Nighthawks the lead and win, 80-79.
Nighthawks Notes
- Cami Knishka led the team in scoring with 17 points, followed by Pinson with 16
- Freshman Danika Starr scored double digits (10) in just her second game as a Nighthawk
- 12 of the 17 lead changes came in the 4th quarter
- The Nighthawks largest lead of the night was three points
- NNU had 34 rebounds to MSUB's 28
