OREM, Utah – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball falls to Utah Valley 76-72.
How it Happened
The Wolverines opened the game by going on a 12-2 run.
Cami Knishka opened the scoring for the Nighthawks with a two-point jumper. After the Wolverine's scoring run, the Nighthawks went on a run of their own of 14-2.
Kate Clark had two three-point buckets during the run.
Emma Clark hit a three pointer to cap off the first quarter and give the Nighthawks the 16-14-point lead.
The Nighthawks shot six for six on free throws in the second quarter. The other 12 points came from three-pointers by Knishka,
Emma Clark,
Loy Waid, and
Jordan Pinson. NNU was outscored in the second quarter but finished the first half with a 34-33 lead.
NNU Went on a 10-point scoring run to begin the second half, seven of which came from
Clare Eubanks. The Wolverines fought to narrow the deficit. The Nighthawks led by four points at the end of the third quarter, 50-46.
Pinson hit a three-pointer to begin the scoring for the fourth quarter. The Wolverines went on an 8-0 scoring run to regain the lead for the first time since the first quarter. UVU then went on a 12-2 run to secure a nine-point lead. The Nighthawks clawed back, narrowing the deficit from nine to three, thanks to three free-throws and a three-point basket from
McKenna Castledine. After one more UVU free-throw, the final score was 76-72.
