NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball won their conference opener against Saint Martin's by a score of 77-64.
The Nighthawks advance to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in GNAC play.
How it Happened
NNU gained their first lead of the game at 11-10 and would not see another lead until the second half. The Saints went on a nine-point scoring run in the first quarter.
The second quarter seemed even with SMU scoring 17 and NNU scoring 16. The Nighthawks shot 46.2% in the second quarter. NNU finished the first half trailing 38-32.
In the third quarter the Nighthawks went on an 11-point scoring run to take the lead 45-44. SMU reclaimed the lead for a short while. NNU went on another run, this one was 10-1 to finish off the third quarter.
After a Saints layup to start the fourth quarter, NNU went on a 10-0 run. NNU enjoyed their biggest lead of the contest, 15 points with 6:24 remaining. The Nighthawks held on to win 77-64.
