PORTLAND, Ore. - The GNAC announced the final weekly award winners for men's soccer this on Monday, with Northwest Nazarene's
Sawyer Price receving the Defensive Player of the Week accolade.
Price made eight saves in two matches and helped lift Northwest Nazarene to two victories and its first GNAC championship.
The junior made two saves and had a rare goalkeeper assist on the first goal of the Nighthawks' dramatic last-minute scoring barrage in a 2-1 victory over Western Washington on Thursday. He added six saves against 16 Seattle Pacific shots in Saturday's 3-2 title-clinching win over the Falcons.
This is Price's third GNAC Defensive Player of the Week award of the season, also earning the honor for Sept. 19-25 and Oct. 10-16. For NNU men's soccer, this is the ninth GNAC weekly honor of the year.
The Nighthawks are currently waiting to see who, when, and where they will be playing in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament this weekend, with the selections, seedings, and matchups announced Monday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. MT.
