No. 6 Seawolves Too Much for Nighthawks on the Road

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Northwest Nazarene volleyball took a set from No. 6 Alaska Anchorage on Thursday night, but fell to the Seawolves 3-1.

The Nighthawks move to 16-8 overall and 9-7 in GNAC play.

How It Happened

NNU was able to hang with UAA for the whole first set, keeping the frame close throughout. Tied at 23, NNU went down 24-23 but was able to rally back with three-straight points to take the set on an ace from Maren Dent.

The Nighthawks would stay close with the Seawolves in all three of the other sets, particularly 25-22 losses in sets three and four. In the final frame, NNU was down 24-19 but did not go away quietly, scoring three in a row, but could not go on a miracle run to take the set and extend the match.

Nighthawks Notes

  • The Nighthawks hit .250 in the opening set victory, but their attack percentage fell to .171 for the entire match
  • Miya Koch led the team with 11 kills and a .303 attack percentage
  • Olivia Wright added 10 kills and two blocks
  • Anna Gable had a big night at the net with seven blocks
  • Caroline McMahon tallied 25 digs and three aces, moving into second in NNU's rally-scoring history with 107 in her career and just one shy of the record
