Nighthawks Fall to Sea Lions in Overtime

NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball drops the final game of Thanksgiving Classic to Point Loma Nazarene, 71-69.
 
NNU moves to four wins and two losses on the season.
 
How it Happened
 
NNU outscored the Sea Lions in the first quarter 16-12. The Nighthawks went on their biggest scoring run of the game in the first quarter, seven points, which all came from Jordan Pinson.
 
The Nighthawks separated themselves from PLNU even further in the second quarter, scoring 15 to the Sea Lions 9.
 
The biggest scoring lead for NNU came just after halftime when they led by 14 points.
 
The Sea Lions had a big third quarter, scoring 19 and holding NNU to just eight points.
 
The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle. The final basket came with 91 seconds remaining in regulation. PLNU tied the game up at 54 and neither team scored again for the next minute and thirty seconds.
 
In overtime, the Sea Lions got the best of the Nighthawks despite 13 made free-throws by NNU and a jumper from Pinson.

  • Pinson and McKenna Castledine each had 13 points
  • Emma Clark led the Nighthawks in rebounds with eight (tied her most)
  • NNU had 17 steals to PLNU's eight
  • Shawnacee Davis recorded a personal NCAA single game high of 12 points
