Nighthawks Outlast Roadrunners in Double Overtime

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Northwest Nazarene women's basketball earned a double overtime win against MSU Denver on Saturday with a final score of 97-93.
 
NNU advances to 3-1 on the season.
 
How it Happened
 
In the first quarter the Nighthawks were outscored 20-11.
 
The Nighthawks got hot in the second quarter, though, and shot 40%. Four of their field goals came from beyond the arc, as they went into the break down by just two, 34-32.
 
NNU came out strong in the second half, shooting just over 60% in the 3rd quarter and outscoring MSU Denver 22-12 to take an eight-point lead.
 
The fourth quarter would end in a tie, though, resulting in the game going into overtime. The score at the end of regulation was 68-68.
 
In the first overtime, both teams scored 10 points. NNU's points came from a Kate Clark jumper, two free throws by Clare Eubanks, and three-point shots coming from Cami Knishka and Jordan Pinson.
 
In the second overtime, Pinson scored 10 of the Nighthawks 19 points.
 
After the two hard fought overtimes, the Nighthawks were victorious with a final score of 97-93.

  • Pinson led the team in scoring with 25 points, assists with seven, and steals with four
  • The 25 points are a new career-high for Pinson, eclipsing her previous best of 18 set twice before
  • Knishka added 19 points, and Clare Eubanks scored 17
  • Analynn Bohner led the team in rebounds with six

The Nighthawks will return home for the NNU Thanksgiving Classic, facing Concordia University (Calif.) on Thursday, November 25th before battling with Point Loma the following day on Saturday.
