NNU Sweeps MSUB, Grabs Third-Straight Win

BILLINGS, Mont. –Northwest Nazarene volleyball went on the road to sweep Montana State Billings 25-17, 25-17, 25-15 on Thursday night for their third-straight win.
 
NNU improves to 15-5 overall and 8-4 in GNAC play.
 
How It Happened
 
The Nighthawks started well, going up 6-3 early on a kill from Olivia Wright. Moments later with Helen Sullivan serving, NNU went on a 7-0 run to take a 15-7 advantage after a Natalie Sullivan kill. NNU cruised from there, taking the set on another kill from Wright.
 
Set two started close, but NNU went on a small 5-0 run midway through to pull out to a 15-10 lead. The Nighthawks would slowly build their lead to eight before the set was over, with a Maren Dent ace putting the finishing touches on the frame.
 
Set three was all Nighthawks, with the visiting team jumping out to an 11-2 lead after another Dent ace. NNU didn't look back, taking the set by 10 points with kills from Natalie Sullivan and Tayler Markland sealing the victory.
 
Nighthawks Notes
 
  • The Nighthawks dominated every aspect of the game, hitting .356 while holding MSUB to .150 for the match
  • NNU had 11 aces to just three for the Yellowjackets and outpaced them in kills at a 47-28 clip
  • Natalie Sullivan was impressive, hitting .500 in the match with a double-double of 15 kills and 14 digs
  • Olivia Wright also was in double figures in kills with 13 while hitting .423 and recording three blocks
  • Maren Dent hit .389 and registered nine kills, five digs, and four aces
  • Caroline McMahon added 12 digs and three aces
  • NNU improves to 22-7 all time against MSUB
 
Next Up
 
The Nighthawks will now make the trip from Billings over to Seattle, facing Seattle Pacific on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Pacific.
