NAMPA, Idaho - Northwest Nazarene women's soccer had little trouble with Central Washington in Thursday's conference opener, finding the back of the net four times in the first half on their way to a 5-0 victory over the Wildcats.
How It Happened
-
Ashley Parton got the scoring started in the 11th minute off a feed from
Carolyn Moravec.
- Just four minutes later,
McKenzie Buell notched her second goal of the season off an assist from
Magda Wronski.
- Buell then assisted the next goal, finding Moravec for NNU's third tally of the night in the 33rd minute.
- This time, it only took 102 seconds between goals as
Matisyn Ohlson got in on the fun in the 35th minute, with
Olivia Wicks delivering the assist.
- NNU's final tally came in the 64th minute, when
Makayla Roggow found
Sierra Sanchez to make it 5-0.
Nighthawks Notes
- NNU is now 1-0 in GNAC play and 3-1-1 overall.Â
- The five-goal differential is the Nighthawks' largest margin of victory since Sept. 15, 2018 when they defeated Saint Martin's 6-1, coincidentally also a GNAC opener at home.
- The last 5-0 victory came on Aug. 31, 2017, when NNU took care of Academy of Art in the season opener.Â
- All three of NNU's wins this year have been shutouts.
- Five different Nighthawks recorded goals, while five different players also tallied assists. Moravec and Buell were the only ones to register both a goal and an assist.
- NNU took 15 shots and put 10 on goal, resulting in a wide margin over CWU, who only put three attempts on frame.
-
Alexis Montoya played the first 73 minutes in goal, notching three saves.
Ariel Kotte got her first action of the season with the final 17 minutes of action between the pipes.
