NNU Splits with Dominican and Concordia Irvine on Friday

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Northwest Nazarene softball continued their California trip with a split of two games on Friday, defeating host Dominican 2-0 before falling to Concordia Irvine 11-2.

NNU moves to 20-8 on the year, and will take on the same two teams again tomorrow to wrap up the Golden State swing.

Game One: NNU 2, Dominican 0

As has been the case many times this season, Sidney Booth was the difference in game one, dominating in the circle for her ninth win of the year. She went all seven innings and allowed no runs on four hits while striking out seven.

NNU was able to play small ball and scrape together a pair of runs to earn the victory, with the first coming in the second inning as Maia McNicoll scored on a Dominican error. The other tally came in the fifth, when Brittany Genuardi brought home Emma Mulligan with a sacrifice fly.

Ivy Hommel had two of NNU's six hits in the game and also stole her team-leading 22nd base of the season.

Game Two: CUI 11, NNU 2

NNU ran into a tough Concordia Irvine squad in the second game, falling 11-2 to the 14th-ranked team in the nation.

Emma Mulligan's first homer of the season was all the scoring that the Nighthawks would get, with Felter scoring on the blast for two runs.

The Eagles put two runs on the board in the top of the first and then added to their lead in a big way in the third with seven coming across. CUI tacked on two more in the seventh to round out their scoring.

Mulligan had two of NNU's six hits in the contest.
