DALLAS, Texas – Northwest Nazarene baseball's Kyle Ethridge was named the GNAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the third time on Monday. This time, the freshman was also named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II West Region Pitcher of the Week.
Ethridge improved to 4-1 on the season in the Nighthawks' 6-2 win at Montana State Billings on Friday. He allowed two unearned runs on three hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts in seven innings. It was the third time he reached double digits in strikeouts this season. Of his 113 pitches, 71 were for strikes.
Ethridge leads the GNAC with 37.1 innings pitched, 53 strikeouts, and four wins and is fifth with a 3.13 earned run average and a .221 opposing batting average.
NNU swept Montana State Billings on Friday and Saturday to extend its winning streak to six games. The Nighthawks are 23-5 overall and sit in first place with a 17-3 conference mark.
The Nighthawks are ranked No. 1 in this week's NCBWA Division II West Region Rankings with 49 points. NNU is also tied for No. 10 with Lindenwood (Mo.) in the most recent national poll, released on April 14.
