PORTLAND, Ore - The GNAC released the Player of the Week honors for the stretch of March 22-28 on Monday, and Northwest Nazarene's
Kyle Ethridge and
Shawn Grandmont have swept the baseball awards.
NNU earned the sweep of the baseball honors after the Nighthawks swept their four-game GNAC series with Saint Martin's. SeniorÂ
Shawn Grandmont was named the Baseball Player of the Week after he batted .562 in the four games, going 9 for 16 with five runs, 10 RBI, a double, a triple, two home runs and two stolen bases. He had a pair of three-run homers, including one that accounted for all of the scoring in Friday's 3-0 second-game win.
Freshman Kyle Ethridge was named the Baseball Pitcher of the Week after he threw six innings of shutout baseball in the 3-0 win. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out 12 to improve to 3-0 on the season.
The Nighthawks, ranked 15th in the nation and holding a 17-3 overall mark (11-1 in GNAC play), have this weekend off before returning home to host Western Oregon for four games on April 9 and 10.
