NAMPA, Idaho - Northwest Nazarene women's soccer had no trouble with Montana State Billings on Thursday, scoring twice in each half to take a 4-0 victory.
With the win, the Nighthawks improve to 5-0 on the year.Â
NNU dominated possession, taking 27 shots and putting 15 on goal. By contrast, the Yellowjackets managed just six shots and two on goal. The Nighthawks also earned nine corners and allowed MSUB just two.
NNU was held off the board for the first 25 minutes, but
Madison Grande and
McKenzie Buell then scored within two minutes of each other to put the Nighthawks up by two. Grande finished off a pass from Buell for the first score, before Buell headed in a cross from
Magda Wronski to double the lead.
Sierra Sanchez scored both of NNU's goals in the second half, tallying her team-leading fourth and fifth of the season. Her scores came off of assists by
Rikki Myers in the 54th minute and Buell in the 63rd.
Sanchez had five shots in the game and put all five on goal.
Ashley Parton,
Jade Zimmer, and Buell each also recorded multiple shots on frame in the win.
Alexis Montoya (77 minutes) and
Ariel Kotte (13 minutes) split the time in goal, each registering one save.
MSUB's Clare Keenan saved 11 shots across the 90 minutes of action.
The Nighthawks will play their final home game of the spring season on Monday, March 29 against Western Oregon at 4:00 p.m. After that, NNU hits the road for five games in April to close out the year.
