POCATELLO, Idaho - Northwest Nazarene women's soccer was not intimidated by taking on a Division I foe on Friday, knocking off Idaho State 1-0.
The Nighthawks outshot the Bengals by a wide margin, tallying 22 total shots with eight on goal compared to just four shots with three on goal for ISU.
NNU also had a 6-3 advantage in corners.Â
Both teams had a few chances in the opening half, but nothing materialized and the squads went into the break knotted at 0-0. The Nighthawks came out strong in the second half, though, tallying the first eight shots of the half, with the eighth resulting in the only goal of the game for either side.
Jade Zimmer tallied the game-winner in the 69th minute, scoring off an assist from
McKenzie Buell. It was just the senior's second goal of her career, as she also notched a game-winner a season ago.
Sierra Sanchez peppered the Bengal goalkeeper more than any other Nighthawk on the afternoon, recording seven shots with three going on goal. Buell finished with five shots, while
Rikki Myers tallied three.Â
The Nighthawks will now have a couple of weeks off before hosting Saint Martin's for their home opener on March 11.
