The CoSIDA Academic All-America Selections have been announced for men's soccer, with
Lorenzo Valentini of Northwest Nazarene earning a Third Team nod.
The award marks the second-straight season that Valentini has earned All-America honors, one of 10 repeat student-athletes out of the 35 members across the three teams. He is also one of two GNAC representatives to earn the honor this year.
Valentini, a grad student from Saarbrücken, Germany, has maintained a 3.96 GPA while pursuing his MBA.
This season, the defender scored one goal and notched one assist from his back line position, anchoring the Nighthawks defense that allowed 1.42 goals per game and recorded five shutouts.
In his three years in Nampa, he has recorded nine goals and two assists. He was the GNAC Newcomer of the Year honors in 2019 and is a two-time First Team All-GNAC defender.
Valentini is just the second NNU men's soccer player to earn Academic All-America honors, and the first to do so twice. He is also the 16th GNAC player to receive the recognition, and fifth to do so multiple times.
The Academic All-America teams are nominated and voted upon by members of CoSIDA and recognize student-athletes of sophomore standing or higher who are starters or significant reserves for their teams with a minimum GPA of 3.30 or better.Â
