KINGSVILLE, Texas – Northwest Nazarene men's basketball suffered their second-straight defeat in the Lone Star State, falling to Texas A&M Kingsville 67-58 on day two of the Javelina Classic.
How It Happened
- NNU started well, pulling away late in the first half to take an eight-point lead, 39-31, at the break.
- The second half went the way of the Javelinas, though, as the home team tied things up at 41 five minutes into the period and eventually pulled away for the nine-point victory.
- The Nighthawks scored just 19 points in the second half, shooting 27% (6-22) from the floor and 22% (2-9) from three.
Nighthawks Notes
- NNU moves to 1-2 on the year, while Kingsville improves to 3-1.
- Gabriel Murphy led the Nighthawks for the second night in a row, posting another double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. Five of his 12 boards came on the offensive end while he also recorded three blocks.
- Kobe Terashima was the only other Nighthawk in double figures with 11 points.
- NNU won the points in the paint battle 28-16, but allowed 18 fast break points while scoring just four.
