NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene men's soccer sent their seniors off with a bang on Saturday, upsetting No. 22 Seattle Pacific 1-0 on NNU Field.
How It Happened
- NNU struck gold in the 38th minute, when the Nighthawks earned a penalty in the attacking third and Lukas Juodkunaitis sent a ball to the middle of the box, where it was knocked around a few times before Sebastian Cotrau got a foot to it and put it in the back of the net.
- Despite 11 total shots and four on goal, the Nighthawks kept the Falcons off the board the rest of the way to earn the shutout.
Nighthawks Notes
- NNU finishes the 2021 campaign with a .500 record at 8-8 overall and 5-5 in GNAC play.
- Seattle Pacific still managed to clinch the GNAC regular season title with Western Washington's loss to Simon Fraser.
- NNU's three seniors were honored before the game, with Dominic Abdel-Ahad, Landon Butler, and Alex Nadermann receiving recognition.
- Nadermann and Butler both started, with Nadermann going the distance in goal with four saves to earn the shutout. Butler also played all 90 minutes on the back line.
- With the goal, Cotrau finishes the year in a tie with Juodkunaitis for the team lead with five goals.
