BELLINGHAM, Wash. – In just their second GNAC tournament appearance, Northwest Nazarene women's soccer fell to the second-seeded Western Washington Vikings 3-1 in the semifinals on Thursday.
How It Happened
- The Vikings stunned the Nighthawks early with three goals in the first 14 minutes, all from Jenna Killman.
- NNU got on the board in the 59th minute when Ashley Parton converted a penalty kick.
- The Vikings held on for the 3-1 win, holding NNU to just three shots on goal in the contest.
Nighthawks Notes
- NNU will now have to wait to see if they earn an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament when the selections are announced on Monday night.
- The Nighthawks were ranked fifth in the latest West Region rankings. The top six in Monday's final rankings will participate in the NCAA postseason.
- If selected, it would be the program's first-ever bid to the NCAA Women's Soccer Championships.
- Parton's goal in tonight's game was her fifth of the season and 17th of her career, now tied for fourth in program history.
- Alexis Montoya played all 90 minutes in goal, making five saves.
